How the matcher scores each country

Each country gets four scores, all from public data. Your answers decide how much each one counts. Pick "Fluent" English and English counts more. Pick "Keep cost low" and wage level counts more.

These are country averages. Single candidates vary far more than countries do. A great hire can come from any of the 12. For the time zone side in more depth, read why US time zone overlap matters. To compare cost against a US hire, use the cost calculator. Still deciding between Latin America and Asia? Try the nearshore vs offshore calculator.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best country in Latin America to hire from?

It depends on the role and where your team sits. Engineering hires lean on the size of the developer pool, which favors Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina. Customer-facing hires lean on English, which favors Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Change the answers above to rank all 12 countries for your own hire.

How does the nearshore country matcher score countries?

It weighs four public measures: the time zone gap with your team, the EF English Proficiency Index score, the size of the talent pool (GitHub developer accounts for engineering, World Bank labor force for other roles) and local wage level (World Bank GDP per person, as a rough guide to pay). Your answers change how much each one counts.
